News - William M. Jones Wins Safe Truck Driving Championship

Waldorf, Maryland — Chaney Enterprises is honored to announce that Bill Jones, dump driver, recently won 1st place dump class at the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) 52nd Maryland Safe Truck Driving Championships held at Maryland State Fair Grounds in Timonium, Maryland.

MMTA strives to establish and maintain the highest business principles and standards while confirming adherence to environmental and safety standards. These efforts are apparent in the drivers that participate in this competition, as they are the elite of Maryland's trucking companies. To be eligible for qualification, drivers had to achieve an accident free record for one year, and must have been nominated by their respective company's Safety Supervisor in order to be eligible to enter the competition. Drivers competed in nine different classes, each involving a Personal Interview, a Written Examination (which included information on the trucking industry, safety driving rules, first aid, and fire fighting), a Pre-Trip Inspection, and a rigorous driving course containing numerous challenges for each driver to overcome.

Mary Anne O’Hagan, Chaney Enterprises Risk/Safety Manager, was proud to nominate Bill for the competition. Bill’s fourteen years in the trucking industry have provided him with the experience and knowledge to become the Best of the Best in the trucking industry in Maryland.
