Daniel Kurek, Director of Finance & Controller Daniel joined Chaney Enterprises in 2010 and serves as Director of Finance & Controller. He is responsible for Chaney’s Accounting and IT departments. Daniel is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants & the Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake Shores Chapter. Positions held include: Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the Chesapeake Construction Education Apprenticeship Trust (a 501c3) and Board of Directors/Treasurer of The Chaney Foundation. Daniel received graduate degrees from the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, including an M.B.A. in Finance. He is also a 2020 graduate of the Harvard Business Analytics Program, where he serves as a Harvard Business School Student Ambassador. Daniel is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).
Jeff Slagle, Vice President of Concrete Operations Jeff serves as Vice President of Concrete Operations and has been with the company since 1995 where he started as a sales trainee. In 1998, Slagle was promoted to Territory Manager followed by Sales Manager, GM VA Operations, and currently Concrete Operations Officer for MD, VA, and DE. He has been engaged in the ready-mixed concrete industry as a board member for the Maryland Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Chairman for the Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Northern Virginia Concrete Council, Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association board of directors and VRMCA Secretary/Treasurer.
Amie Long, Human Resources Director Amie joined Chaney Enterprises in 2015 as the director of learning and development, where she spearheaded the integration of a new learning management system into Chaney’s training curriculum. She earned a bachelor’s degree in family studies from the University of Maryland College Park and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. In early 2019, Amie was promoted to Human Resources Director, and now manages all functions of the human resources department including safety, benefits, training, recruiting, staffing and wellness.
Thomas W. Flynn, Chief Financial Officer Tom joined Chaney Enterprises as Chief Financial Officer in August 2005. He brings years of construction and supply experience to the Chaney Enterprises team. Tom graduated Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in 1979 and is a certified public accountant.
Francis (Hall) Chaney, III, Chief Executive Officer Hall’s formal involvement with Chaney Enterprises began with summer employment while he attended school at the University of Maryland (UMD). He is a graduate of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree in logistics and supply chain management. He also holds a master’s degree in real estate and development from the Colvin Institute at the University of Maryland. Hall rejoined Chaney Enterprises in 2008, after serving as a project manager for Reliable Contracting in Millersville, MD. Since 2008, Hall has held many positions at Chaney Enterprises such as project manager, sales & business development representative, concrete operations manager and executive vice president. In 2016, Hall began leading the company as president, and in 2019 was promoted to CEO. He is chair of the Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association’s (MTBMA) education committee, serves on the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) executive committee, a Maryland Ready Mixed Concrete Association (MRMCA) board member, serves the Chaney Foundation, and is on the board of directors for the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), among other activities and services.
Donna Chaney Bunn, Vice Chairman of the Board Donna started her career with Chaney Enterprises in 1977 as a summer receptionist. After earning a degree in General Business with a concentration in Management Information Systems from Virginia Tech, she joined the family operation working in both Computer Information Technology and Human Resources. Donna serves as Vice President of the Board of Trustees for The Calverton School in Calvert County, MD.
Kyle Murray, Land General Manager Kyle serves as our Land General Manager. He joined Chaney Enterprises in 2012 as a Land Project Manager. He has spent his entire career in the land development industry, and is responsible for all aspects of Chaney Enterprises land portfolio as well as environmental compliance for the company. Kyle graduated in 2007 from High Point University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He is a board member of the Lifting Anne Arundel Giving Circle and serves on Governor Hogan’s Advisory Board for the Rural Legacy Program.
Jan Holt, Chief Customer Officer Jan previously served as chief marketing officer and vice president of sales for The Brick Companies in Edgewater, MD. She also served as vice president of marketing for Atlantic Golf in Edgewater. She began her professional career at the corporate headquarters of Outback Steakhouse in Tampa, FL, and became operations and marketing manager. Jan volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club of America, Special Olympics of Maryland and Chesapeake Bay Area Charities. She is also an active member Chief Executives Working Together (TEC) and the American Marketing Association Mentor Program.
Joe Penn, Vice President of Aggregates Operations Joe Penn has served our industry since 1986. He has a Bachelors of Science degree and and is a certified NRMCA Concrete Technologist Level IV. His community service has included serving on the American Red Cross Board, along with a multi-decade dedication to Christmas in April. Joe has served on the boards of Maryland Ready Mix and Maryland Transportation Builders Association. He lives in Southern Maryland with his wife after raising two wonderful daughters. He will always maintain that his divisions’ successes are a pure result of his teams’ passion and ownership.
Tom Pittman, Maintenance Operations Officer Tom entered the ready-mix concrete industry in 1990 and formed the Annapolis Junction based company, PCS Concrete, in 2008. Tom joined the growing Chaney Enterprises’ team in April 2019 when Chaney acquired PCS Concrete as part of their strategic reorganization plan. Tom has complete responsibility for all of Chaney Enterprises’ fleet and plant maintenance. Pittman’s 30 years of experience in the ready-mix industry positions him well to manage all the maintenance, capital expenditures and personnel associated with Chaney’s large equipment and plant fleet.
William F. Childs, IV, Director of the Board Bill’s entire professional career has been in the construction industry. He joined Chaney Enterprises in 1992 as vice president of Sales and Marketing, was promoted to president in 1998 and served as president and CEO until he retired in October 2019. Bill graduated from St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, MD, and received a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration from Lynchburg College. Boards served: Maryland Ready Mix Concrete Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, RMC Research and Education Foundation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concrete Sustainability HUB Advisory Council, MRMCA Promotion Council, Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association, the Eugene Chaney Foundation. Bill is active in several community and civic organizations.
Francis H. Chaney, II, Chairman of the Board After working at Chaney Enterprises during his high school and college summers, Frank graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech in 1979. He has served our industry as president of two statewide boards (MRMCA & MAA) and as president of ABC’s Chesapeake Chapter, and he has served on numerous national boards (ABC, NAA, NSA, & MII). In 2003, a few years after going from company president to chairman, Frank was chosen “National AggMan Professional of the Year.” His true passion, however, is community. He works with the American Cancer Society and the Boys & Girls Club, serves as his church’s senior warden, and has been instrumental in helping our own community foundations grow. As a result, in 2004, Frank and his wife, Susan, were recognized as Anne Arundel County’s “Philanthropists of the Year.”
