News - A Commitment to Community Continues with Chaney

Chaney Enterprises has been awarded with national recognition for its commitment to communities. The 2003 Good Neighbors bronze medallion will be presented to Frank Chaney, Chairman of the Board and Bill Childs, President and CEO by the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association in January, 2004. This award recognizes Chaney Enterprises for continually supporting community initiatives by volunteering time, donating materials and contributing financially to groups and organizations. The National Stone, Sand and Gravel association is compiled of ----- companies in the United States. Chaney Enterprises is proud to be one of only 46 companies out of this entire association to be recognized at this high level of distinction.

As a leader in the community, Chaney realizes the importance of providing help and support to local organizations. This Waldorf based company, sets 6% of its net profits yearly and gives it to the Eugene Chaney Foundation for distribution. Through the efforts of this foundation, Chaney has given to over 180 charitable organizations this year alone. For over 24 years, Chaney Enterprises has organized the American Cancer Society’s Annual Bull and Oyster Roast, which in 2003 raised over $52,000, during this one day event. Chaney also has an annual golf tournament, supporting the American Cancer Society, which raised a phenomenal $94,994 in 2003. Besides fundraising events and youth sports sponsorships, Chaney has also created a scholarship program. This program provides scholarships to high school students, who are interested in pursuing careers in the construction, drafting, design or any other industry related field. Chaney Enterprises is truly in the business of giving back to the communities where it transacts business. Charitable organizations, civic and business groups, recreation and education projects – all will continue to benefit from the goodwill that Chaney so sincerely believes in. After all, it’s the foundation upon which it was founded.
