Chaney Enterprises Wins Silver Excellence in Concrete Paving Award

Chaney Enterprises has won an Excellence in Concrete Paving award for its Southern Hills Development project in Davidsonville, MD.

The Excellence in Concrete Paving award is presented by the American Concrete Paving Association and recognizes contractors, engineers and project owners who completed outstanding projects. Winners were determined by 56 industry professionals who served as judges.

Chaney’s Southern Hills Development project, awarded in the county roads category of the awards, was built with all concrete roads and driveways. The premiere single-family home development by Caruso Homes features 24 new construction homes with large lot sizes and golf course views. Chaney worked with Precision Concrete Construction, civil engineering firm, Ronald Johnson & Associates, and the NRMCA through their design assistance program to facilitate the concrete paving aspect of the community.

The Southern Hills project is a true testament of Chaney’s dedication to land reclamation. The new construction community is located on Chaney’s former Mardis Mine Site. This land provided plentiful aggregates to the community for almost 50 years, until the reclamation process began in 1999. Because of the proximity to the Patuxent River, Chaney had to be especially sensitive to natural resources in the area. The site was first reclaimed as a world-class replica golf course known as Renditions Golf Course. Soon after the completion of the golf course, the construction of Southern Hills began.

“The achievement of this award is the direct result of the dedication and tenacity of our employees, who constantly show their passion for the work they do,” said Francis "Hall" Chaney, III, chief executive officer of Chaney Enterprises. “From our incredible concrete delivery professionals, to our sales team and land department, almost every aspect of our business has been involved in this project. It’s rewarding to see our company’s hard work transformed into a truly exceptional final product.”
