Chaney Team Members Volunteer with Farming4Hunger

Last Friday, members of the Chaney team spent the day volunteering with Farming4Hunger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity while creating opportunities for personal growth, recovery, and community impact throughout Maryland.

During their time on the farm, volunteers harvested a nutrient-rich super green 5-mix blend that was used to feed the farm’s chickens. This fresh blend helps enrich the chickens’ diet and contributes to producing healthier eggs. After harvesting, the team helped feed the chickens and learned more about the role sustainable farming practices play in supporting local food systems.

The group also harvested and bundled Swiss chard that will be donated to the Maryland Food Bank. Through the efforts of incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, volunteers, and community partners, Farming4Hunger donates approximately one million pounds of fresh food annually to help families in need across the state.

In addition to hands-on farm work, team members participated in interactive team-building activities focused on communication, accountability, active listening, and supporting one another. These exercises reinforced the importance of strong teamwork both on and off the job.

The day concluded with a tour of the farm, where volunteers learned more about Farming4Hunger’s mission and its work to combat addiction and overdose challenges in Southern Maryland through outreach, education, and community engagement.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support organizations like Farming4Hunger that are making a meaningful difference in our communities. Through service and collaboration, we can help create a stronger, healthier future for those around us.

Chaney’s charitable foundation, Chaney Cares, is proud to support Farming4Hunger through annual grants, their employee charitable matching program, and volunteering.
