News - Maryland Therapeutic Riding

Imagine… A young child with cerebral palsy walks for the first time. This would be special news for her parents, wouldn’t it? This is not a rare occasion for those who are involved with Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR). Located in Crownsville, MD, MTR is a year-round program that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults in need of physical, mental, and emotional rehabilitation. Riding horses can be incredibly rewarding physically, psychologically and socially for children and adults with traits such as neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, autism and attention deficit disorder. MTR helps more than just its special needs riders, it also benefits those who volunteer their time to the program by increasing self-esteem and community togetherness. It is for these reasons that one of their biggest supporters is Chaney Enterprises, whose continuous effort to support programs that benefit children and healthcare is realized in the mission of MTR which is to improve the lives, physically and psychologically, of children and adults with special needs and challenges. Chaney Enterprises realizes the importance of programs like MTR and is proud to support MTR in their effort to improve the quality of life for Maryland’s citizens.

“Music From the Mountains,” featuring members of the John Denver Band, debuted in 2001 as a benefit concert for Maryland Therapeutic Riding. Impressively, in just their first year, MTR was able to raise over $50,000 for the riding program. This year’s “Music From the Mountains,” once again featuring members of the John Denver Band, appeared on October 25, 2002 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD. This year, the concert was able to raise over $85,000, an increase of $35,000 in just one year! Chaney Enterprises was delighted as corporate sponsors of this event to see MTR achieve such an amazing success through this concert. It is very important to Chaney Enterprises to continue supporting organizations such as MTR that positively impact the communities in which they do business. Chaney Enterprises wishes MTR the best of luck in their endeavor to improve the lives of special needs children and adults.
