News - Concrete Innovation Celebrated

Chaney Enterprises President and CEO William F. Childs, IV has been selected as a winner of The Daily Record’s 2012 Innovator of the Year Awards.

The Daily Record began the Innovator of the Year Awards in 2002 as a way to recognize Marylanders and Maryland-based companies for their innovative spirit — for creating new products, new programs, new services, or new processes that have helped their companies, industries, or communities.

“This is a wonderful honor and I am quite humbled to receive this recognition from The Daily Record,” Childs said. “Leading an organization is always a challenging responsibility, especially during an economic depression in the construction industry. We all know that it takes a great team of people to produce results, and the Innovator of the Year Award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the dedication, commitment and capabilities of the entire Chaney Team.”

“We are proud to honor Bill Childs as one of The Daily Record’s Innovators of the Year,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “Bill Childs embodies the creativity and innovative spirit that originally spurred The Daily Record to launch the Innovator of the Year Awards.”

This year, The Daily Record received 62 nominations, which are solicited from The Daily Record’s readers, economic development agencies, chambers of commerce and the business community at large. Nominees were then asked to complete an application that explains their innovation and the impact it has made on Maryland.

A distinguished panel of judges reviewed the applications and selected 19 winners for 2012, including the top Innovator of the Year. The winners will be honored at a cocktail reception Oct. 24 at Baltimore’s American Visionary Art Museum. Winners also will be profiled in a special magazine included in the Oct. 26 issue of The Daily Record.
