Chaney Enterprises Expands Concrete Operations in I-81 Corridor

Chaney Enterprises has reached a definitive agreement to acquire the family owned and operated ready-mix concrete business, Superior Concrete in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Founded in 1953, Superior Concrete has been operated by the Wilt family since 1982. Lawrence Wilt started as a sales representative for the company in 1975, then within a few years became general manager. Despite the severe economic recession in the early ‘80s, under Wilt’s supervision the company flourished financially, and he was able to purchase the company in 1982. Wilt’s oldest son Tony joined the company in 1980 greasing the belts of the plant conveyors then worked his way through all aspects of the business to become president and general manager of Superior Concrete.  Lawrence’s younger son, Keith, joined the company in 1992 and resides as vice president of operations.

“Entering the Shenandoah Valley market unlocks vast growth and potential for our company while complementing our ever-growing footprint.  We welcome all 60 employees into the Chaney team with open arms and are enthusiastic to merge our years of wisdom and experience together while providing the best products and service in the industry,” remarks Francis “Hall” Chaney, III, chief executive officer for Chaney Enterprises.

Chaney Enterprises will acquire both Superior Concrete ready-mix concrete plant locations in Virginia: Harrisonburg at 1526 Country Club Road and Broadway at 267 Timber Way.
