News - Concrete Life Cycle and Science Showcase

Emerging breakthroughs in concrete science and engineering hold the promise that concrete can be part of the solution of contributing to a sustainable development that encompasses growth and progress while minimizing the ecological footprint.

Our entire industry is invited to join former US Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood and attend the MIT CSHub Showcase 2013 "Industry Day" on Thursday, September 26, 2013 as researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Concrete Sustainability Hub present their latest research findings and progress. Presentations will be given by MIT researchers working on the Concrete Science and Building Technology Platforms, which focuses on concrete science, life cycle cost analysis and environmental impact research.

There will be interactive workshop sessions on:

  • Linking molecular modeling to engineering properties
  • Quantifying life cycle cost and environmental impact of pavements
  • Quantifying life cycle cost, environmental performance and hazard resistance of buildings
