News - Chaney Foundation to Offer Beautification Grants

The Chaney Foundation invites garden clubs, schools and community organizations to apply for its 2011 Beautification Grant program.

Established in 2003, the grant program assists community and non-profit organizations and schools to establish aesthetic and environmental projects to benefit residents located in Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s and Caroline Counties.

Applicants are encouraged to submit projects that incorporate “green” gardening practices, such as water conservation measures, organic fertilizers and native plant species. Schools, for example, have used the grant to incorporate beautification projects into the curriculum.

The submission deadline is April 30, 2011. Applicants must be a school, government, 501c3 organization or a qualified organization that is willing to receive funds to be used for the project. Each grant awarded is worth up to $1,000. All grants must be matched by the organization which may include cash, material, services, labor or a combination of resources. Requirements of the project include the scope of the project, total cost, the amount you are requesting, and how you plan to match the requested funds. A photograph of your improvement area is also required.
