News - Chaney Enterprises Wins National Award

The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association’s Excellence in Community Relations Gold Award was presented to Chaney Enterprises at the NSSGA national convention in March.

Chaney Enterprises was one of five companies nationwide to receive the Gold Award.

The NSSGA recognized the company for its extraordinary commitment to education, mentoring, philanthropy, government involvement, community outreach, employee programs and plant appearance and supporting activities.

“I am very proud of the all the efforts our employees and our company make to support the communities we represent,” said William Childs, CEO of Chaney Enterprises. “The recognition given to us by our peers in the sand, stone and gravel industry affirms our commitment to those communities.”

During the year, Chaney Enterprises donates ten percent of its net profit to the Chaney Foundation, which was founded in 1987. Chaney Enterprises has provided monetary and material donations to support community projects and initiatives, including Eagle Scout projects, fundraisers for schools and community outreach organizations. Chaney Enterprises employees participate in many community events, including school career days and the company’s annual golf tournament and Bull Roast, fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. Now in its second year, Chaney Enterprises has hosted GreenFest, an annual environmental open house, which is free and open to the public and includes workshops, kid’s activities and a tour of one of the company’s mining sites. Other areas of excellence noted were the company’s safety measures, environmental efforts, internal company communications, employee programs and truck appearance.

The NSSGA is the world’s largest mining association by product volume. Member companies represent approximately 118,000 men and women working in the aggregates industry.
